DeepDeck Hacker News Reader

A dsh-plugin Cordis Host/Client bundle that adds a focused Hacker News reader to DeepSeek Harness.

Best used with DeepDeck. DeepDeck supplies the Apps launcher, standalone app window, app-scoped Workspace and canonical AI conversations used by Summarize and Explain. This plugin expects DeepDeck's App runtime service when it is mounted.

Install with DeepDeck (recommended)

1. Open Settings → Apps in DeepDeck.
2. Paste https://github.com/jo32/dsh-hackernews-reader.git into Install an App plugin.
3. Choose Inspect source, review the detected package and build command, then choose Confirm install.
4. Restart DeepDeck when prompted.
5. Open Apps → Hacker News from the sidebar.

For local development, build the checkout and install the resulting local bundle into the active DeepDeck web profile:

The last command only mounts the Cordis bundle; run it in a DeepDeck-managed profile so the required App runtime is present.

Usage examples

• Open Top, New, Best, Ask HN, Show HN, or Jobs, then select a story to read its complete nested discussion.
• Search for local-first AI, switch between relevance and newest-first order, and open any result without leaving the reader.
• Click Summarize on a story, or Explain with AI on a comment, to open a canonical Session in ~/DeepDeck/Apps/hackernews-reader.
• Ask the DeepDeck agent: Read today's top Hacker News stories and group them by topic. The plugin exposes read-only tools for feeds, search, stories, users, account state and the current UI context.

Authentication uses Hacker News's own login form. The password is forwarded once to Hacker News and is never persisted; only the returned user session cookie and public username are kept in the Harness credential store. The reader remains read-only because the official Hacker News API does not expose supported write endpoints.

The plugin targets DeepSeek Harness 0.1.1-rc.1. Its Host/Client entries, types, invariant and self-mounting bundle are declared in package.json and cordis.patch.yml; generated lib/ output is not committed.
