I'm a coding beginner. This project mainly shares a feasible approach to adding wallpaper backgrounds to DeepSeek Harness. It is an experimental implementation, not a mature product or an official plugin. Contributions, corrections, and improvements from experienced developers are welcome.

Bring your own wallpaper into DeepSeek Harness, with transparent backgrounds and dark translucent panels.

Features

• Click Sync current wallpaper to read Wallpaper Engine's saved selection. No polling or automatic refresh on focus.
• Optionally apply the current wallpaper once at startup.
• Import local JPEG, PNG, WebP, MP4, or WebM files. Videos loop muted and pause when the page is hidden.
• Adjust panel depth and wallpaper shading independently.
• Choose Cover, Contain, or Native pixels; inspect the source dimensions.
• Restore the default interface with one button.

Installation

1. Download dsh-wallpaper-skin-0.7.0.tgz from this repository's Releases once published.
2. In DeepSeek Harness, open Plugins → Add plugin, enter the archive's full local path, then install and enable it.
3. Fully quit DeepSeek Harness, including its tray process, and reopen it. Start Wallpaper Engine first if you use WE integration.
4. Open 壁纸皮肤 at the bottom right. After changing wallpapers in WE, click ↻ 同步当前壁纸.

The plugin's current settings panel is in Chinese; the English labels above describe its controls. To upgrade, uninstall the previous package and install the new archive. Disable or uninstall it from its plugin detail page.

Supported media and limitations

WE video wallpaper	Plays the original MP4/WebM file if the client supports its codec.
WE web wallpaper	Tries to read a local original background image referenced by inline CSS in the project's HTML. Does not execute scripts or effects.
WE scene wallpaper	Uses the project thumbnail. No scene.pkg rendering or live WE capture.
Local media	Selected through the file picker; select it again after restart.

The status distinguishes original images, videos, and thumbnails. Cover may crop or upscale; Contain may leave borders; Native pixels avoids enlargement using the display's pixel ratio. Original-image bytes are not recompressed, but enlarging low-resolution sources cannot add detail.

This is not a live desktop mirror. Window proportions, WE effects, and rendering may differ. Manual sync reads saved WE configuration, which may lag behind a change. Multiple monitors currently use the first saved entry, with no monitor selector. Original web images are limited to 32 MB; project thumbnails to 2 MB. Settings are stored in the current client's localStorage.

Previews

Two local preview states were prepared: Preview 1 shows the settings panel, and Preview 2 shows the overall interface with the panel closed. They show the same version, not separate releases. Their screenshots contain third-party artwork and are intentionally excluded from this public repository and release archive pending permission or replacement.

Development

Uses DSH's bundle manifest and dynamic client registration. No third-party runtime npm dependencies. Run npm test for the nine regression tests and npm pack to build an archive. Passing tests do not establish compatibility with every DSH version or WE wallpaper.

License and third-party rights

No wallpaper media or WE binaries are distributed. Use only media you are authorized to use and obtain permission before publicly redistributing third-party media or promotional screenshots.
